  Carnegie Mellon Philharmonic  
  Description:   Returning guest conductor, Paul Polivnick, leads the Philharmonic for the second concert of the season. Maestro Polivnick is a world-renowned conductor who has guest conducted the National Orchestra of Lille in France, the Symphony Silicon Valley in San Jose, the UNAM Orchestra in Mexico City, and many others. The evening opens with John Adamsí The Chairman Dances: Foxtrot for Orchestra, from Adamís political opera Nixon in China. Next, be transported with Stravinskyís Violin Concerto in D Major with our very own School of Music graduate Lillian Lee, the 2017 School of Music Concerto Competition (undergraduate division). End your evening with the electrifying orchestral roar of Johannes Brahmsís Symphony #2 in D Major which captures the unfolding of a pastoral scene. Program: Adams The Chairman Dances: Foxtrot for Orchestra Stravinsky Violin Concerto in D major Brahms Symphony No. 2 in D major, Op. 73
